The truck was en route from Okpella in Edo State, aimed at delivering the goods to a customer in Gwagwalada, Abuja. Mr. Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the police command, made this revelation in a statement provided on Thursday in Minna, detailing the events that led to the truck’s recovery and the arrest of three suspects.

Investigation Reveals Details of the Theft

According to Mr. Abiodun’s account, the truck went missing on June 21 after the driver parked it along the roadside. This was while he took a break in a restaurant to locate his customer. When the driver returned, he found the vehicle had vanished and promptly reported the incident to his manager, who helped track the truck to Lambata in Niger State. Thereafter, the police sprang into action, with the Gawu-Babangida Police Division promptly mobilizing patrol teams to the location.

Three Suspects Arrested in Connection With The Theft

After a thorough search, police located the stolen truck on the Lambata-Lapai Road, where all the cement bags were found intact. Three men—Bashir Isah (22), Ibrahim Yusuf (21), and Halidu Mohammed (28), all hailing from the Gbamita area of Lambata—were apprehended. Upon arrest, these suspects confessed to their intentions of selling the cement to another buyer. It’s important to note that the police have already opened a formal investigation into this theft.

In summary, the timely recovery of the stolen truck by the Niger police highlights the importance of vigilance and swift action in preventing crime. The suspects have been arrested and confessed their plans, leading to a deeper investigation into the matter. The police continue their efforts to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future and maintain public trust.
