Daystar Power Installs Solar System at Nexans Ghana Facility

Daystar Power has commissioned a 532kWp solar energy system at Nexans’ factory in Tema, Ghana, featuring 918 PV panels that will supply up to 55% of the factory’s daytime electricity needs. The system ensures high uptime and supports the company’s sustainability goals towards net-zero emissions by 2050.

In an important step towards sustainable energy use, Daystar Power has announced the successful commissioning of a substantial 532kWp grid-tied solar energy system at Nexans’ manufacturing facility located in Tema, Ghana. This initiative marks a significant advancement, as Nexans is recognized as a prominent global player in cable systems and related energy solutions.

The solar project, unique for its fully ground-mounted configuration, incorporates 918 photovoltaic (PV) panels—representing the first such system executed by Daystar in Ghana. With a projected output of 47.7 MWh annually, the system is set to meet approximately 55% of the factory’s daytime electricity demands. Adding to its efficiency, the system features an ENcombi controller that syncs seamlessly with the national grid and the factory’s own generators, ensuring a remarkable 99.9% uptime along with the capability for proactive maintenance.

Victor Ezenwoko, the country head for Daystar Power in Ghana, explained the urgency for companies in the region to reduce their carbon footprints. “Nexans is a great example of how companies can adopt solar energy to meet their carbon emissions targets and drive energy cost savings,” he stated. He also expressed pride in the project’s impact, noting, “We couldn’t be prouder to have our first ground-mounted system in Ghana located in the country’s leading manufacturing hub.”
