Niger State Police arrested two burglars, Musa Audu and Abdullahi Garba, in Minna after they attempted a burglary, stealing electronics and kitchenware. Meanwhile, Danrani Usman was arrested for stealing 50 sheep, with another accomplice still at large. Police emphasize the importance of community vigilance and investigation.

In a recent enforcement operation in Niger State, two men were arrested by local police for their involvement in a burglary in Minna, the state capital. The suspects, identified as Musa Audu, aged 43, and 45-year-old Abdullahi Garba, are residents of the Kwangila area. They reportedly broke into a home through a window and attempted to steal a plasma television, a remote, and some kitchen items.

According to sources from Arewa PUNCH, the suspects had successfully gathered their stolen items in a sack before being caught red-handed. Vigilant neighbors noticed the break-in and quickly notified the police, who were able to respond promptly, leading to the suspects’ apprehension.

Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, confirmed the incident and details surrounding the arrests. “On April 30, 2025, at approximately 11:45 AM, police operatives from the Chanchaga Division apprehended Musa Audu and Abdullahi Garba while they attempted their robbery,” Abiodun recounted.

He further explained that the burglary took place in the Brighter Area of Minna when police presence was absent. “The suspects reportedly accessed the home through a burglary window and made off with a 35-inch plasma TV and a remote controller, among other items,” he added. The police assured that the suspects are currently under investigation at the Chanchaga Division and will soon face prosecution.

Additionally, police have apprehended another individual, Danrani Usman, aged 32, accused of stealing 50 sheep. Usman, hailing from Gengi village in Ibeto, allegedly confessed during interrogation that he and an accomplice named Isah, who remains at large, carried out the theft from Yangalu village.

On April 27, shortly before Usman’s arrest, he and local vigilantes collaborated with police operatives from the ‘B’ Division in Kontagora to detain him with the purportedly stolen sheep. Police spokesperson Abiodun stated, “Efforts are underway to locate the remaining suspect, as the case of cattle rustling continues to be investigated.”

The recent spate of burglaries and livestock thefts highlights ongoing public safety concerns in the region, underscoring the need for increased vigilance and police-community partnerships.

The swift action by local residents in reporting the break-in led to the successful arrest of two burglars, Musa Audu and Abdullahi Garba, in Minna. Additionally, another suspect, Danrani Usman, was apprehended for mass sheep theft, revealing potential connections to a broader concern of livestock rustling. Authorities continue to investigate these cases to ensure community safety.
