Three NDLEA Officers Injured in Abuja Raid on Drug Operations

Three NDLEA officers were hospitalized with gunshot wounds after an attack during a drug raid in Abuja, specifically in the Jahi area. The raid led to the seizure of significant quantities of illicit substances. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) reported that three of its officers suffered gunshot wounds during a recent raid in Abuja. This incident occurred in the Jahi area of the Federal Capital Territory while the team was investigating an uncompleted building based on intelligence reports. The raid resulted in the seizure of various illicit items, including 74 bottles of codeine, ten litres of codeine syrup, 48 grams of tramadol, 4.9 kilograms of skunk, and five Android phones.
As the NDLEA officers exited the location, they were unexpectedly fired upon, resulting in one officer sustaining injuries to the rib and two others being shot in the back and leg. The officers were initially stabilized at the Police Clinic in Garki Area 1 and later transferred to the National Hospital in Abuja for advanced treatment. NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa acknowledged the prompt response of the clinic staff and the Chief Medical Director, commending their efforts in overseeing the injured officers’ care.
While attending to official duties in Kano, Mr. Marwa communicated with the injured officers via phone, wishing them a swift recovery. He reiterated the agency’s commitment to collaborate with other security forces to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack, underscoring the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts in combating drug-related crimes.
