Nini Satar’s Death in Mozambican Prison Under Investigation

Nini Satar, a Mozambican inmate, died in Machava Special Maximum Security Penitentiary. Found during a morning inspection, he apparently had no vital signs. SERNIC is investigating the death, which may be linked to seizures and previous COVID-19 complications. A complete autopsy is pending.
Nini Satar, also referred to as Momad Assif Satar, has passed away in the Machava Special Maximum Security Penitentiary Establishment located in Matola, Mozambique. As per information released by the National Penitentiary Service (SERNAP), he was discovered on the cell floor during a routine morning inspection at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Friday, appearing without vital signs.
Following the incident, SERNAP reported that the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) was alerted and conducted an investigation to confirm Satar’s death. A source from SERNAP has indicated that Satar experienced seizures prior to his death. Reports also suggest that he had been suffering from post-COVID-19 effects, which had previously necessitated hospitalization.
The death of Nini Satar raises significant concerns regarding health monitoring in penitentiary facilities. While SERNAP has expressed its regret over the incident, a complete autopsy is critical for determining the precise cause of death. The ongoing investigations by SERNIC will hopefully clarify the circumstances of this tragic event.
