Armenia Denies Allegations of Ceasefire Violations, Calls for Peace Talks

A release from the Prime Minister’s Office indicated that the Armenian government responded to claims made by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence regarding six alleged ceasefire violations that occurred from March 16 to 18. Following inspections, the Armenian Ministry of Defense refuted these allegations, asserting there were no violations by its armed forces.
Furthermore, Armenia reminded Azerbaijan of its prior proposal, made on June 22, 2024, to establish a joint mechanism for investigating ceasefire violations. According to the Armenian Ministry of Defence, Azerbaijan has yet to respond positively to this proposal.
The Ministry also stated its willingness to examine substantiating evidence concerning the Azerbaijani claims, should such reports be provided. It emphasized that no evidence of ceasefire violations has been submitted by Azerbaijan and confirmed that Armenian forces adhere to a commitment to peace.
Armenia has urged Azerbaijan to initiate dialogue concerning the details of a peace agreement, which covers essential topics for fostering normal relations. Armenia presented a written proposal in January 2025 regarding railway cargo transportation and a bilateral arms control mechanism, awaiting a favorable response from Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Armenia expressed its readiness to continue border delimitation efforts with Azerbaijan. Concurrently, Egypt has praised the advancements made in negotiations for the draft peace agreement, asserting that it may pave the way towards peace and stability in the South Caucasus region. Egypt anticipates that both nations will sign the agreement as soon as feasible.
