Person of Interest Identified in Case of Missing University of Pittsburgh Student Sudiksha Konanki

Sudiksha Konanki, a University of Pittsburgh student, has been missing since March 6 on a trip to the Dominican Republic. U.S. investigators have identified a person of interest, though this does not imply criminal involvement. Security footage captured her last known movements, and her friends reported her missing approximately 12 hours later. The investigation is ongoing with U.S. and Dominican cooperation.
A person of interest has been identified in the ongoing investigation related to the disappearance of Sudiksha Konanki, a 20-year-old student from the University of Pittsburgh. Konanki went missing during a spring break trip in the Dominican Republic, and U.S. investigators, particularly from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, confirmed this discovery. Although the office lacks jurisdiction in the case, they have dispatched detectives to assist with the investigation from the U.S. end.
The individual identified has been interviewed extensively, although it remains essential to clarify that this person is not considered a suspect, as the case is still categorized as a missing person incident. This information was highlighted by sheriff’s office spokesperson Thomas Julia, emphasizing that it does not imply any criminal involvement at this point.
Konanki traveled to Punta Cana with five college friends on March 3. Security footage shows her entering the beach area of the Riu Republica Resort at approximately 4:15 a.m. on March 6, the last confirmed sighting before her disappearance. Her friends returned to the hotel after 40 minutes, leaving her with individuals she met during the trip.
After spending the following day on an excursion, her friends reported her absence approximately 12 hours later. Dominican officials indicated that, according to reports from the last known contact with Konanki, an incident involving a wave occurred while they were on the beach; however, authorities found no indications of blood or any violent activity at the scene of her disappearance.
The search for Sudiksha Konanki continues as investigators focus on a person of interest identified in the case. While crucial details have emerged, including her last known whereabouts and circumstances leading to her disappearance, the investigation remains centered on locating her rather than attributing criminal blame at this stage. Both U.S. and Dominican authorities are collaborating to uncover more information about her whereabouts.
