ICE Boston arrested a 38-year-old Brazilian fugitive in Everett, wanted for armed robbery in Brazil. He had previously entered the U.S. illegally and has been returned multiple times. Authorities emphasize the importance of public safety and the ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity in New England.

On January 22, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended a Brazilian fugitive, aged 38, in Everett, Massachusetts. He is wanted in Brazil for armed robbery. Patricia H. Hyde, acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston, stated, “This Brazilian fugitive is facing significant charges in his home country, so he attempted to flee justice by coming here.” She emphasized the agency’s commitment to public safety and its efforts to prevent New England from becoming a sanctuary for criminals.

The fugitive was initially apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on October 15, 2020, after entering the United States illegally. Following a notice to appear before a Department of Justice immigration judge, he was returned to Mexico the next day. However, the individual illegally re-entered the U.S. on April 2, 2021, leading to another arrest.

On September 27, 2021, he was ordered released on bond by an immigration judge. Subsequently, Brazil issued an arrest warrant for him on May 20, 2024, for armed robbery, a crime that carries a potential 16-year prison sentence. Following his latest arrest, the fugitive remains in ICE custody.

Public cooperation is encouraged by ICE, inviting individuals to report crimes or suspicious activities through the ICE Tip Line at 866-DHS-2-ICE or via their online tip form. Additional information about ERO Boston’s mission can be accessed via their X account @EROBoston.

The apprehension of the Brazilian fugitive highlights ICE’s commitment to public safety and its ongoing operations to root out individuals who pose threats to the community. The case underscores the collaboration between U.S. authorities and international law enforcement in addressing serious crimes like armed robbery.
