Blake Suzeli, a Wenatchee therapist, is in a medical coma in Peru, prompting a GoFundMe fundraiser to raise $30,000 for his medical care and transport home. Organized by Julie Rickard, the initiative highlights Suzeli’s commitment to the community and the urgency of the situation after his health deteriorated during a documentary trip.

A licensed mental health therapist from Wenatchee, Blake Suzeli, is currently in a medical coma in Peru. His partner, Kayla, is seeking assistance to cover the expenses for his medical treatment and transportation back to the United States. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated with a target of $30,000 to facilitate these urgent needs.

The fundraiser was organized by Julie Rickard, who has collaborated with Suzeli for several years in suicide prevention efforts within the Wenatchee Valley. Rickard emphasized, “Blake is amazing. He’s super giving; he will go out of his way to help other people… he has just always been the person people felt comfortable coming to and talking to and he’s just a really fabulous person.”

Suzeli traveled to Peru with Rickard for a documentary focused on healing methods. Initially, he experienced coughing, which was attributed to altitude sickness, but this escalated to a critical state where he could not walk. A visit to a local clinic revealed he had only 25 percent lung capacity, leading to his intubation and subsequent medical coma due to insufficient oxygen intake.

Complicating matters, a landslide obstructed the transport route to more advanced medical facilities, exacerbating Suzeli’s condition. After enduring delays, he was eventually moved to a critical care hospital in Lima, with $14,000 spent on transportation and $44,000 charged upfront for a week’s medical care.

Suzeli is currently receiving treatment for sepsis, COVID-19, bacterial anemia, and the flu. Rickard appeals for contributions to support Suzeli’s recovery and encourages positive thoughts for him and Kayla. Those wishing to donate can do so through the GoFundMe.

In summary, Blake Suzeli, a dedicated mental health therapist in Wenatchee, is facing a medical crisis in Peru that necessitates urgent support. The GoFundMe campaign spearheaded by Julie Rickard seeks to raise $30,000 for his medical expenses and transport back to the United States. Those who wish to assist are encouraged to donate or extend their positive thoughts during this challenging time.
