A tragic incident occurred in Karamin Rami village within the Mashegu Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of seven lives due to a tanker explosion. The event took place on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., as reported by Ibrahim Hussaini, the Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).

The explosion was initiated by a tanker truck, which was transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and lost control on a poorly maintained road, ultimately spilling fuel into a nearby stream. This hazardous situation led to a fire that escalated and triggered a massive explosion. Hussaini remarked that, “The inferno engulfed the farmland, destroying the entire rice field, including fruits and vegetation.”

The tragic outcomes included the death of seven individuals, leaving one person injured. The deceased have been identified as follows: Rafiatu Sahabi, Ramlat Shehu, Rashida Abdullahi Raliya, Abdulrahaman, Zainab Ahmed, Zuwaira Idrisu, and Maryam A. Nura. Meanwhile, Maimuna Isah, a farmer injured in the incident, is currently receiving medical attention at Saho Rami Primary Health Care.
