Authorities Pursue Three Suspects in Murder of Scottish Businessman in Kenya
Kenyan police have named three suspects in the murder of Campbell Scott, a Scottish businessman found dead in a sack of pineapples. Scott had been missing since February 16 after attending a conference in Nairobi. The investigation has led to multiple arrests, including individuals accused of using his bank cards. A post-mortem examination revealed inconclusive findings regarding the cause of death, prompting further toxicology testing.
The Kenyan police have identified three suspects linked to the murder of Campbell Scott, a Scottish businessman, whose body was discovered in a sack of pineapples in Makongo Forest, located 60 miles from Nairobi. Scott, a 58-year-old senior director at Fico, went missing on February 16th after failing to attend a presentation following a nightclub visit.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has released images of the men, named as Benard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, also known as “Edu.” The DCI has urged anyone with information to contact them. Two men have already appeared in court for using Scott’s bank cards to withdraw funds.
Authorities initially apprehended a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter, believed to be among the last individuals to see Scott alive. Subsequently, two additional suspects were arrested in Mombasa, approximately 301 miles from Nairobi, with police suggesting Scott visited a residence connected to one of the suspects before his murder. Law enforcement alleges that the arrested individuals collaborated to withdraw money from Scott’s account.
A Nairobi court has approved a 21-day detention for these suspects as investigations proceed. The post-mortem examination of Scott’s body returned inconclusive results; it was determined that the injuries were not substantial enough to have led to his death. Additionally, the DCI has sought assistance from Interpol to trace Scott’s mobile phone and card transactions.
