Dangote Petroleum Refinery has formed a new partnership with Optima Energy for petrol distribution in Nigeria, enhancing affordability. Concurrently, NNPC has slashed its pump prices, creating competitive fuel pricing in the nation. This initiative underscores Dangote’s commitment to consumer welfare and quality fuel availability.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a new partnership with Optima Energy to distribute petrol across Nigeria. This collaboration adds to the existing partnerships with MRS Nigeria, Ardova PLC, and Hyden, enhancing the availability of affordable fuel for consumers. The announcement coincides with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPC) reduction of nationwide petroleum pump prices, providing consumers with more options for procurement.
In a public message, Dangote encouraged Nigerians to purchase petrol from their partners, highlighting the competitive pricing structure. The retail prices for petrol are set at N860 to N895 per litre, depending on the partner and location, allowing consumers to save and obtain high-quality fuel refined to enhance engine performance.
In response to Dangote’s pricing strategy, NNPC lowered the pump price of petrol from N945 to N860 per litre, effective March 3, 2025. Additionally, Dangote reduced its ex-depot price from N890 to N825 per litre, a decrease of N65. The refinery emphasized its commitment to fair pricing and consumer welfare, stating it would reimburse customers who were charged above the listed rates by its partners.
Further, Dangote Refinery is actively procuring crude oil, having secured its first shipment of Algeria’s light sweet Saharan blend crude from Glencore, expected to arrive in March 2025. This strategic acquisition is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of quality fuel for the Nigerian market.
In summary, Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s collaboration with Optima Energy and other partners marks a significant improvement in the availability of affordable petrol in Nigeria. Alongside NNPC’s price adjustments, customers can benefit from competitive rates, ensuring quality fuel accessibility. The commitment to consumer welfare through reimbursement initiatives reflects Dangote’s dedication to fair pricing in the petroleum sector.
