In a tragic and violent incident in Mexico, the severed remains of nine students, ages 19 to 30, were discovered alongside a local highway. The bodies were located in the trunk of an abandoned vehicle and beneath a blood-stained tarp in San Jose Miahuatlan, near the Puebla and Oaxaca state border. A chilling detail of the discovery was a bag containing eight severed hands, alongside two additional hands found in the trunk.
Most of the victims have been identified: Angie Lizeth, Leslie, Brenda Mariel, Jacqueline Ailet, Noemi Yamileth, Raul Emmanuel, Ruben Antonio, and Rolando Armando. This group, mostly composed of students from Tlaxcala, had gone missing while vacationing in Oaxaca on February 27. Video surveillance captured the vehicle on February 24 traveling along the Atlixcayotl highway, approximately 90 miles west of where the remains were ultimately found. While no suspects have been publicly identified, the violent nature of the killings has led to suspicions of cartel involvement. Additionally, Mexican media outlets have noted that the ninth victim remains unidentified.
The Attorney General’s Office in Puebla is actively collaborating with local law enforcement agencies from Tlaxcala and Oaxaca to apprehend those responsible for this brutal act. The investigation is ongoing, as authorities seek justice for the victims.
