The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecasted predominantly dry and sunny conditions across most of Kenya from February 8 to 12, 2025, with rainfall expected mainly in the southwestern regions. Afternoon showers are likely in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, while coastal and southeastern areas may see some rain. Caution is advised for residents in the north due to strong winds.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has provided a revised five-day weather forecast for the period extending from Saturday, February 8, to Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Most regions in Kenya are expected to experience dry and sunny weather, with rainfall primarily confined to southwestern areas and regions along the Tanzania border.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including major counties such as Nairobi, Kiambu, and Meru, predominantly dry conditions are predicted. However, there is a possibility of afternoon showers on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and again on Wednesday. Additionally, light rains are anticipated throughout the day on Wednesday, with temperatures peaking at 28°C.

For the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin, which includes Kisumu and Nakuru, morning, afternoon, and evening showers are anticipated on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday indicates cloudiness interspersed with sunny intervals, while temperatures are projected to reach highs of 31°C and lows of 09°C.

Coastal counties, such as Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale, are likely to experience predominantly dry conditions during the day, with periodic cloudiness at night. The expected daytime temperatures in these coastal areas may exceed 32°C, and nighttime temperatures could reach up to 21°C.

In the southeastern lowlands, comprising Kitui, Makueni, and Machakos, rainy conditions are forecasted from Saturday through Monday, primarily in the afternoons. Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated for the morning and night, with daytime highs of 31°C and lows around 12°C.

Northeast counties, including Marsabit and Garissa, are predicted to have sunny intervals during the morning and afternoon, leading to partly cloudy nights. Temperatures in these areas may soar to highs of 38°C, with lows around 17°C.

Dr. David Gikungu, the Director General of the Kenya Meteorological Department, has advised residents in the northwestern and northeastern regions to remain vigilant due to expected strong southeasterly winds, which may reach velocities of up to 25 knots (12.5 m/s).

In summary, the upcoming weather forecast indicates a mix of dry and wet conditions across various regions of Kenya from February 8 to 12, 2025. While rainfall is expected in certain areas like the Highlands East of Rift Valley and the southwestern regions, much of the country will remain dry and sunny. Residents, particularly in the northeastern parts, should be cautious due to anticipated strong winds.
