Alleged Drug Trafficker Captured in Oman After Three Years on the Run

In addition to drug-related charges, Casey is also accused of possessing several firearms including a Sturmgewehr STG44 semi-automatic rifle, an Akkar Churchill shotgun, and a Mossberg 715 Tactical T 22 rifle on the same date. Initially, he was released on October 12, 2021, by Judge John Milne on $200,000 bail with strict conditions, including surrendering his passport.

Further investigation revealed allegations that Casey and an accomplice, Janell Elizabeth Sandhu, were involved in the unlawful production of fentanyl and other drugs between December 2019 and February 2020. Casey was subsequently released again but fitted with an electronic ankle-monitoring bracelet.

In June 2023, the Vancouver Police Department appealed to the public for assistance in locating Casey after he had failed to appear for trial in 2022. Insp. Phil Heard from the VPD’s organized crime section noted that the investigation into Casey had begun in February 2020, which eventually led to his charges halfway through 2021.

In the follow-up, on July 27, 2020, police executed six search warrants across Metro Vancouver. The results were staggering: over 20 kilograms of fentanyl and nearly 10 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized, alongside three firearms and over $315,000 in cash, leading to an estimated total drug seizure value of nearly $5 million.

Following these raids, Casey was arrested on July 30, 2020, but soon gained release under bail conditions that included wearing an electronic monitoring device. However, in an alarming turn of events—on April 10, 2022, just prior to his trial, he removed the bracelet and has since been on the run.
