Tata Motors has introduced its electric vehicle (EV) range in Mauritius through a partnership with Allied Motors, launching three models: the Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev. This diverse lineup offers options across various vehicle segments, with the Tiago.ev being a compact hatchback featuring a 24 kWh battery that provides a range of 190-210 km. The Punch.ev, a compact SUV, is equipped with a 35 kWh battery, achieving a range of 270-290 km, while the Nexon.ev is a full-sized electric SUV that includes a robust 45 kWh battery, offering an impressive range of 350-375 km.

Each model boasts notable technical specifications, such as instant torque between 190 Nm to 215 Nm and acceleration times up to 8.9 seconds for the Nexon.ev. Additionally, these vehicles come with extensive warranties: 8 years or 160,000 km on the battery and motor, and 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle itself. Owners will benefit from a complimentary 7.2 kW home charging wall box as part of their purchase.

Allied Motors will handle sales and after-sales support, utilizing Tata Motors’ technical training to enhance customer satisfaction. Tata Motors recently entered Mauritius following its expansion into Sri Lanka. Although Tata.ev has not disclosed the pricing for these EVs, it is anticipated that the Tiago.ev will be the most affordable, while the Punch.ev and Nexon.ev will serve as higher-tier options. Notably, the Curvv.ev has not been launched in Mauritius but may be available in the future, alongside the awaiting Safari.ev and Harrier.ev in India.

In summary, Tata Motors has effectively expanded its EV portfolio into Mauritius by launching various models targeting different market segments. With competitive specifications and extensive warranties, the company aims to establish a strong presence in the Mauritian automotive market, supported by local partnerships. Future developments, including the potential introduction of additional models, will further strengthen Tata’s offerings in the region.
