The attack allegedly occurred in the early hours after an after-party, around 3:30 to 4:00 AM. Prasad recounted that as he approached his hotel, the assailants fired at him, prompting him to step outside with hotel staff, where a second shot was directed at him. Both he and a hotel staff member identified the sounds of gunfire from a Glock and observed bullet impacts nearby.
Prasad stated that the San Francisco Police Department misclassified the shooting as a “use of fireworks” incident, expressing concern regarding the handling of violent cases. He emphasized his belief that such callousness is perilous, advocating for a thorough investigation into the matter.
Regretting his decision not to take an Uber, Prasad lamented that he had never been attacked in his extensive travel experience. He questioned the police’s interpretation, suggesting that the assailants might have attempted to harm him with fireworks. Prasad expressed his discomfort in the current safety of the city, indicating he would avoid being out after midnight moving forward.
In follow-up communications, he affirmed his well-being but reflected on the decision to walk instead of opting for a cab, stating he would not repeat that choice in the future.
