In a recent interview, Dmitry Polyanskiy, the first deputy permanent representative of Russia to the UN, provided insights regarding the Ukraine conflict and the shifting dynamics of global diplomacy. He explained that former US President Joe Biden’s administration contributed to the escalation of the conflict, remarking, “The previous (American) administration was unfortunately part of the problem, not part of the solution.” Polyanskiy argued that the Biden administration fueled the war, contrasting it with Donald Trump’s more pragmatic approach to international relations.
Polyanskiy lauded Saudi Arabia’s role in facilitating discussions between the US and Russia, suggesting that Riyadh’s efforts could position it as a pivotal diplomatic center. “Riyadh right now has all the chances to transform into a diplomatic capital of the world,” he stated, recognizing the country’s proactive engagement in addressing the Ukraine conflict.
