Nigeria Police Neutralize Vandal Threats to Pipeline in Rivers State

On Tuesday, the Nigeria Police Command in Rivers State confirmed the killing of a number of suspected vandals who were attempting to damage a pipeline in the Rumuekpe Aluu community. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju reported that the suspects were pronounced dead at the scene, indicating a successful enforcement operation.
Commissioner Adepoju emphasized that this action is part of a broader collaborative initiative with various security agencies aimed at ensuring the safety of Rivers State. He stated that the coordinated security forces effectively prevented an attempt by miscreants to vandalize the pipeline, leading to the demise of the perpetrators who intended to detonate explosive devices.
According to Adepoju, the thwarted detonation occurred due to the rapid response of security personnel on March 16 at Allu-Rumuekpe, located in the Ikwerre Local Government Area. Following this incident, security forces conducted a subsequent operation in Onelga LGA on March 19, successfully averting another potential bombing by apprehending two suspects.
During this latter operation, the authorities seized four dynamites and neutralized additional explosives, including components of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). This enforcement reflects the ongoing commitment of security agencies to combat vandalism and protect vital infrastructure in the region.
