Revolt Motors Expands into Nepal with Plans for Electric Motorcycle Sales

Revolt Motors is set to export electric motorcycles to Nepal, building on its previous success in Sri Lanka. The company plans further expansion into Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia, with future projections for a manufacturing facility in Mexico. Emphasizing the demand for electric vehicles in Nepal, Revolt will introduce its full product line and plans significant sales growth in the region.
Revolt Motors, following its successful entry into Sri Lanka last year, is now poised to export electric motorcycles to Nepal. The company has outlined plans to expand its reach into three additional countries across Africa, South-East Asia, and West Asia during the upcoming financial year. Furthermore, Revolt intends to tap into the Mexican market in a later phase, with plans for assembly plants in Africa and Mexico, as articulated by Anjali Rattan, Chairperson of RattanIndia Enterprises.
In 2024, Nepal witnessed sales of approximately 170,000 two-wheelers, with the penetration of electric vehicles being under 4 percent. Scooters comprise about 37 percent of this sales figure, and Indian OEMs command a substantial 45 percent share of the scooter market. Rattan emphasized that Indian products are significantly favored in Nepal compared to offerings from other countries, highlighting a promising market for Revolt.
The full product lineup that will be exported includes the RV400, RV400 BRZ, RV1, RV1+, and RV BlazeX, complemented by a robust after-sales service network. The partnership with MV Dugar Group will see the establishment of a flagship Revolt Hub in Kathmandu by April, alongside plans to launch 15 showrooms across major cities in the subsequent months.
Rattan stated, “Nepal is a key strategic market, given its strong push for clean energy and growing demand for sustainable mobility … motorcycles are a preferred mode of transport, presents an exciting opportunity to introduce our smart, efficient electric motorcycles.” The company aims for an annual sales volume of 500 units in Nepal, with the first shipment expected this week.
Regarding manufacturing capabilities, Rattan indicated that the existing facility at Manesar (Haryana) possesses a capacity of 180,000 units annually, well within current production levels of 35,000 units per year. Additionally, Revolt registered sales of 760 motorcycles in February, marking a significant annual growth of 58 percent compared to 480 units sold in February last year. Looking ahead, the company is exploring potential manufacturing sites in Tamil Nadu or Karnataka within the next 18 months.
In addition to Revolt, other manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, such as Ather, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor, and Ultraviolet, are also exporting to neighboring countries.
In summary, Revolt Motors is extending its operations to Nepal, capitalizing on the country’s demand for electric motorcycles. The company’s strategy involves not only exporting a range of models but also establishing an extensive service network and showrooms. With ambitious sales targets and potential for growth in South Indian states, Revolt exemplifies the expanding electric vehicle market in South Asia, amid increasing competition from other brands.
