The Moroccan weather office forecasts heavy rainfall and snowfall across several provinces from Monday to Wednesday, with specific alerts for Taourirt, Figuig, and others. Cold temperatures are also expected, with impacts on agriculture being reinforced by new initiatives from the government to support farmers amid water scarcity.

From Monday to Wednesday, Morocco will experience heavy rainfall and snowfall across various provinces, as forecasted by the General Directorate of Meteorology. An orange alert has been issued, indicating expected rainfall amounts of 35 to 50 millimeters in Taourirt, Figuig, Guercif, Boulemane, Errachidia, Tinghir, and Midelt, effective from midnight Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Additionally, the provinces of Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Sefrou, Taza, Beni Mellal, Azilal, M’diq-Fnideq, and Fahs-Anjra will anticipate rainfall ranging from 25 to 30 millimeters on Monday between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Snowfall is also expected in Boulemane, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Tinghir, and Midelt from midnight Monday until Tuesday morning.

Temperatures are predicted to drop to between -3 and 3 degrees Celsius from Monday to Wednesday in Azilal, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Midelt, Tinghir, Ouarzazate, Boulemane, and Ifrane. Recent rainy weather over the weekend, particularly in Rabat, has already been felt in several provinces.

This rainfall comes as a positive development for Morocco’s agricultural sector, which has faced challenges related to drought and water scarcity in recent years. To support farmers in these tough times, Agriculture Minister Ahmed El Bouari has initiated the new agricultural season, focusing on water management and cost reduction. The Agriculture Ministry plans to cover 5 million hectares with around 1.26 million quintals of certified seeds, primarily targeting autumn cereals, which will be offered at prices 3-5% lower than last year to incentivize uptake.

Rabats weather forecast predicts significant rainfall and snowfall from Monday to Wednesday, particularly benefiting the agricultural sector, which has historically been impacted by drought. In response, the Moroccan government aims to support farmers by reducing seed prices and addressing water scarcity as part of new agricultural initiatives. This convergence of weather and policy presents potential optimism for both farmers and local agriculture, reinforcing the need for continued resilience against climate challenges.
