The Island Traffic Authority reports 37 fatalities in 34 crashes as of February 7, 2025, a 12% decrease from the same time last year. The report highlights concerning statistics regarding vulnerable road users, while males account for 78% of those killed.

As reported by the Island Traffic Authority (ITA), there have been 37 fatalities in 34 crashes in Jamaica as of February 7, 2025. This marks a 12 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2024, with five fewer deaths. The ITA also noted a reduction of 13 percent in the number of fatal crashes compared to last year.

Among those killed, the statistics indicate that 12 were pedestrians, 10 were motorcyclists, and five were private motor vehicle drivers. Additionally, there were four pillion passengers and two private motor vehicle passengers among the casualties. The data suggests that motorcyclists comprised 27 percent of the fatalities, while pedestrians accounted for 32 percent.

Furthermore, the report highlights that vulnerable road users, which include pedestrians, motorcyclists, and pillion passengers, represent a troubling 76 percent of fatalities thus far this year. Males overwhelmingly make up a significant majority of the victims, accounting for 78 percent of the fatalities, while females constitute 22 percent.
