Detectives are currently revisiting the murder case of British national Adam Pickles, who succumbed to injuries sustained during an assault in Pattaya, Thailand, in May 2012. Pickles, aged 48, passed away in January 2021 in West Yorkshire. Known for his role as head of English at Regents International School in Pattaya, he sustained traumatic brain injuries from an iron bar attack, initially perceived as road rage. The efforts to repatriate him were supported by a financing campaign.
In 2015, Sean Tinsley from Wolverhampton received a six-year prison sentence for assault, which was reduced from attempted murder after an earlier not guilty verdict was overturned. The case gained renewed attention after Pickles’ death prompted West Yorkshire Police to initiate a new investigation, assisted by a recent episode of BBC Crimewatch Live that aired on Wednesday. They are urging those who were in Thailand during the incident to come forward with any information.
Detective Chief Inspector Damian Roebuck, leading the investigation, emphasized the need for potential witnesses to assist in delivering justice for Adam. “We believe Adam’s attacker will have confided in someone who was living there at the time about what happened,” he stated, highlighting the significance of collective cooperation. He urged anyone with knowledge regarding the case to report it to the police or Crimestoppers, stressing the dire circumstances of Pickles’ life-long care due to his injuries.
