In addition to the support for tidal wave victims, GH¢292.5 million has been designated for those affected by the spillage from the Akosombo Dam. Recent media reports indicate that more than 300 individuals were impacted by the tidal wave disaster, which led to the destruction of 50 homes and caused significant damage along 80 kilometers of coastline.

The UNICEF report reveals that the Akosombo Dam spillage has displaced approximately 35,857 people, including many children. This situation arose after the Volta River Authority undertook the release of excess water from the dam to prevent overflow, which ultimately resulted in flooding within low-lying communities along the river, particularly damaging the North and Central Tongu districts.
