The Guyana Police Force has arrested a 27-year-old woman for child abuse following the circulation of a video depicting the crime. The child was subsequently placed with his paternal grandmother, and investigations are ongoing.

In response to a distressing video showing a woman abusing a child, the Guyana Police Force took immediate action. On the morning of the incident, at approximately 11:30 AM, police officers, accompanied by the Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency (CCPA), visited West Bank Demerara.

A 27-year-old self-employed woman, identified as the perpetrator in the video, was arrested for the abuse of her son. Following her arrest, she was taken to the Wales Police Station where she was interviewed by both police personnel and CCPA officials.

After the interviews concluded, the suspect was placed in custody. Meanwhile, the child, who is the son of the arrested woman, was subsequently placed under the care of his paternal grandmother. Authorities have announced that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
