Scrap Dealer Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Ghana Water Limited Fittings

Chief Inspector Henry Tetteh Nartey, the prosecuting officer, stated that Mr. Issah, a Nigerien residing in Fitter Line, Ashaiman, was apprehended during a nightly patrol by the Gbetsile District Police on February 26, 2025. The officers became suspicious when they observed him carrying a black polythene bag filled with heavy items.
Upon searching the bag, police uncovered six stopcocks, six safety valves, and one return valve, collectively valued at GHS 3,250.00, which belonged to Ghana Water Limited. Subsequently, Mr. Issah was arrested and taken to Afienya Police Station, where he confessed to stealing the fittings from local residences.
Following his admission, he was charged with theft and held in custody prior to his court proceedings. Dr. Samuel Eson, the Regional Chief Manager for Ghana Water Limited in the Tema Region, expressed gratitude toward the court for its decision. He noted a recent spike in meter thefts that have adversely affected the company’s operations.
