The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding moderate to heavy rainfall anticipated across several regions in Kenya from March 7, 2025, to March 11, 2025. The advisory highlights eight areas likely to be affected, specifically, the highlands west and east of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, along with the Central and South Rift Valley.

In addition to these forecasts, the Coastal Region, southeastern lowlands, northwest, and parts of the southern coast are also expected to experience rainfall. The department specified that the majority of the country would see mostly sunny and dry conditions initially, transitioning to potential rainfall during the weekend.

Counties in the eastern highlands, such as Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, and others, will witness moderate to heavy rainfall from Saturday to Tuesday. The advisory noted that these regions would experience hot and sunny weather on Friday prior to the onset of rain.

For the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley, areas including Siaya, Kisumu, and others are projected to encounter heavy rainfall from March 9 to March 12. Other affected counties include Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, and others that are predicted to undergo similar weather patterns.

Conversely, the North Eastern region comprising Marsabit, Mandera, and others is expected to remain dry and sunny throughout the weekend. The meteorological department further cautioned that high temperatures exceeding 30°C are likely across most of the country, except for the eastern highlands where temperatures will remain cooler.

In summary, Kenya is anticipating a week of significant rainfall in various regions as detailed by the Kenya Meteorological Department. While many areas will experience moderate to heavy showers starting this Saturday, some regions will remain unaffected. Citizens should prepare for possible storms, temperature fluctuations, and consult local advisories for further information during this weather event.
