The affected areas comprise nine identified regions, including both the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, as well as the Central and South Rift Valley, Coastal Region, southeastern lowlands, and parts of the southern coast. The department predicted predominantly sunny, dry, and hot weather transitioning to rainfall beginning later in the week.
Counties like Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, and Meru are forecasted to receive substantial rainfall starting Saturday and continuing through Tuesday. Initially, these areas will experience hot and sunny conditions before the rains commence. Similarly, the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley counties, including Siaya, Kisumu, and Migori, are expected to see heavy rains from Sunday to Tuesday, March 12.
In contrast, regions in the North Eastern area, such as Marsabit and Garissa, will remain dry and sunny throughout the weekend. The forecast also indicates that temperatures in most areas could exceed 30°C, with the exception of Highland regions where cooler temperatures below 30°C are expected. Furthermore, strong winds exceeding 25 knots are anticipated in parts of northwestern and northeastern Kenya.
