The body of Campbell Scott, a Scottish man, was discovered recently in a forest in Kenya, just days after he attended a conference in Nairobi. His disappearance is under investigation as a murder case, with two individuals already detained in connection with the incident. The suspects, identified as Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, and Alphonse Munyao Kilewa, were previously implicated in a disturbing incident where they allegedly kidnapped and extorted a local pastor last year. During this attack, the suspects forcibly stripped the pastor and threatened to disseminate compromising photographs online unless he complied with their demands.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kenya, the pastor was coerced into transferring 55,000 Kenyan shillings, approximately £330, to one of the suspects. During the incident, the pastor reported being abducted by the gang, stripped naked, and photographed to leverage against him.
Following investigations, law enforcement officials executed raids on three locations, recovering the extorted money and the pastor’s mobile device. Although Mbusu, Kamitu, and Kilewa were apprehended and brought before the courts, their current status remains unknown.
Campbell Scott was last seen on February 16 at the JW Marriot Hotel in Nairobi. Tragically, his body was found on February 22, stuffed in a sack of pineapples in a remote forest approximately 66 miles southeast of Nairobi, with evidence suggesting he was restrained prior to his death. A Kenyan court allowed for the detention of the two arrested suspects for an extended period to facilitate ongoing investigations into Mr. Scott’s murder.
