Kuwait’s Winter Concludes with the Hameem Season’s Arrival

Kuwait’s cold winter ends on Saturday with the arrival of the Hameem season, which will bring moderate weather and significant atmospheric changes. The Al-Ojeiri Scientific Center announced that Kuwait’s cold winter will conclude on Saturday, ushering in more moderate weather alongside early spring signs in vegetation. This atmospheric transition marks the commencement of the Hameem season, which follows the Scorpion season and precedes the Dhiraan season, lasting until April 2.

Hameem season is characterized by pronounced weather fluctuations, causing atmospheric instability with varying temperatures, rain, and dust. This transitional period results in a merging of winter and spring, featuring dust storms, scattered rain, and a gradual increase in temperatures, accompanied by thunderstorms and cumulus clouds.

The Hameem season consists of two segments, divided by the moment of equal day and night, coinciding with the spring equinox occurring on March 20 this year. This phenomenon arises as the sun aligns directly over the equator, resulting in equal daylight and night time across the globe. The angle of the sun’s tilt and geographical latitude greatly influence these variations.

Dherar Al-Ali, acting director of the Kuwait Meteorological Department, reported that rainfall would persist until Saturday morning, with strong southeasterly winds surpassing 60 km/h leading to dust waves and reduced visibility in some areas. Saturday’s weather is expected to improve by noon, following a similar dusty condition on Friday, with temperatures estimated between 21 to 12 degrees centigrade, rising to 24-22 degrees during the day and dropping to 11 degrees at night.
