Libya Weather Forecast for March 5, 2025

On March 5, 2025, Libya will witness unstable weather with active winds and scattered showers, particularly in the western and eastern regions. By Friday, greater chances of rain are expected in various areas, accompanied by thunderclouds that may lead to water accumulation and flowing valleys.
The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted unstable weather across most of Libya starting today, March 5, 2025. The western regions will experience active winds that may stir up dust, coupled with cloudy skies and scattered showers. Meanwhile, clouds will accumulate in eastern regions, bringing showers from the Green Mountain to the northeast.
Looking ahead to Friday, the NCM anticipates increased rainfall in regions such as Ghadames, Hamada, from Ras Jadir to Misrata, Tarhuna, Misrata, Bani Walid, and the Nafusa Mountains. These areas may experience thundercloud activity, potentially resulting in water accumulation in lower areas and the flow of some valleys.
The NCM’s specific forecasts are as follows:
1. Northwest Libya (Ras Jadir to Sirte, Jafara Plain, Nafusa Mountains): Cloud cover is expected to increase, with scattered rain and a greater chance of rain on Friday. Winds will be easterly to southeasterly, moderate to active, stirring dust. Temperatures will range between 17-22°C.
2. Northeast Libya (Gulf to Emssad, including Benghazi): Scattered rains are anticipated today, particularly from the Green Mountain to far northeastern regions. Winds will be northerly, becoming southeasterly on Friday, with temperatures between 14-20°C.
3. Southwest Libya (Al-Jufra, Sabha, Ghat, Ghadames, Hamada): Partly cloudy conditions with possible rain are expected, especially in Ghadames and Hamada. Easterly winds will stir up dust. Temperatures will range from 22-26°C, reaching up to 30°C in Ghat.
4. Southeast Libya (Oases, Sarir, Tazerbo, Kufra): Partly cloudy with scattered rain and thunderstorms expected this morning in Jaghbub. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will prevail, with temperatures ranging from 20-24°C, and not exceeding 16°C today in Jaghbub and Jalu.
In conclusion, Libya is set to experience a period of unstable weather characterized by active winds, scattered rain, and rising cloud coverage across various regions. Notable changes are expected on Friday, with increased rainfall in specific areas, including the western and southwestern regions. Residents should prepare for potential accumulation of water and flowing valleys due to anticipated thunderstorms.
