The Minority pointed out that persistent power outages continue to plague Ghana and have disrupted everyday life for its citizens.

Former Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, urged President Mahama to present a load-shedding timetable to offer clarity to the public. He criticized the President’s claims regarding resolving the power issues, stating: “Mr. President, you did not fix ‘dumsor’ as you claimed in your address. Your record on ‘dumsor’ is abysmal, unlike your predecessor, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who kept the lights on.”

Dr. Amin Adam highlighted that the re-emergence of power outages during President Mahama’s current term has caused anxiety among Ghanaians and negatively impacted small businesses dependent on steady electricity supply. He remarked that many individuals and businesses are experiencing significant difficulties due to the erratic electricity provision, emphasizing the resurgence of electric generating sets in various settings.

The Minority urged the government to take proactive measures by publishing a load-shedding timetable to mitigate the adverse effects of these power interruptions. “To mitigate the impact of these erratic power supplies, we, the Mighty Minority, call on the government to publish a load-shedding timetable to help people and businesses plan effectively and offset some of the losses the economy is currently suffering from,” Dr. Amin Adam stated during the NPP Minority Caucus’s presentation of the “True State of the Nation Address.”
