Authorities reported that approximately two million Kenyan Shillings, equating to about £12,000, is unaccounted for from Mr. Scott’s financial resources. This finding transpired following the apprehension of Kithuka and Nzioki, the latter of whom were recorded making transactions with the victim’s bank cards posthumously.
Mr. Scott was in Kenya for a business conference and disappeared after registering at the five-star JW Marriott hotel on February 15. Concerned colleagues notified authorities later that day; his remains were subsequently located in Makongo forest after a week-long search.
CCTV footage captured Mr. Scott departing from Havana Bar, a popular establishment, accompanied by a man of African descent, presumably Kithuka. This pair traversed to an apartment in Pipeline slum, known for criminal activities. Police theorize that Mr. Scott was tortured for banking details before being fatally harmed and disposed of in a nearby forest.
When discovered, Mr. Scott’s body was found in a green sack surrounded by pineapples, with signs of severe injuries and evidences of having been bound. Authorities have conducted a preliminary post-mortem but were unable to ascertain a definitive cause of death, necessitating further toxicology tests.
