Angola recorded 3,402 cholera cases and 114 deaths since early January 2025. The outbreak has led to more than 100 new cases daily, while testing remains inadequate. Efforts to vaccinate the population are ongoing, covering 86 percent of the targeted group, as cholera poses a significant health risk.

Luanda, Angola has reported a total of 3,402 cholera cases and 114 fatalities since the onset of an outbreak in early January, as stated in the Health Ministry’s daily update. Since February 1, the country has seen a daily increase of over 100 new cholera cases, peaking on February 8 with 295 reported cases. However, laboratory testing has been limited, with only about 20 samples being analyzed each day according to the latest press release.

The cholera outbreak in Angola has caused serious health implications, with considerable numbers of confirmed cases and deaths reported. The spread of the disease highlights the urgent need for improved access to safe water and sanitation as well as rapid response to treatment. Vaccination campaigns are underway, but the limitations in testing present ongoing challenges in managing the outbreak effectively.
