They were subsequently transferred to the Koibatek Sub-County Police Station for further investigation.
Koibatek Sub-County Police Commander Joel Chepkwony reported that the women were dressed in traditional buibuis and possessed no identification cards. Richard Cheruyot, the Sub-County Officer in charge of Criminal Investigations, indicated that the women are aged between 20 and 25 years, hailing from various regions including Mombasa and Nairobi.
Cheruyot further noted, “The women come from various regions, with seven from Mombasa, four from Kakamega, two from Kwale, two from Nairobi, and one each from Elburgon, Voi, Meru, Kitale, and Nyandarua.” Authorities stated that the women will remain at the station while investigations into the suspected trafficking syndicate continue.
Investigators are collaborating with the National Transport Services Authority to determine the ownership of the vehicle involved and to ascertain the intended destination of the women.
