On February 10, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco, as reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter was located in Chefchaouen at a depth of 10 kilometers, with 420 individuals reporting that they felt the tremor.

This earthquake coincidentally followed a 5.9-magnitude tremor in Vanuatu, also reported on February 10. The earthquake originated in Port-Vila at a depth of 18 kilometers.

Prior to these incidents, a significant 7.6-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Cayman Islands on February 8, centered in George Town at a depth of 10 kilometers. A tsunami warning was briefly issued for the Mexican coastline, although it was lifted within two hours.

The National Weather Service Warning Center indicated that the tsunami threat had subsided, stating, “With the latest modeling and information, the tsunami threat has passed. There are no alerts posted for the United States or International Partners.”

Additionally, preceding the earthquake in the Cayman Islands, a 3.4-magnitude quake was recorded in California on February 7, originating from Petrolia at a similar depth of 10 kilometers. Following this event was a 2.9-magnitude quake in Petrolia on February 6, occurring at a depth of 4.4 kilometers.

Lastly, prior seismic activity included a 4.3-magnitude earthquake in Alaska on February 5, centered in Sustina at a depth of 5.4 kilometers. This sequence of events exhibits a notable period of seismic activity across various regions.

The recent seismic events, including the 5.1-magnitude earthquake in Morocco and the subsequent significant tremors in Vanuatu and the Cayman Islands, highlight an active geological period.
